This is a manufactured wetland that utilizes Solite^® lightweight aggregate to breakdown harmful compounds. The effluent passes through the aggregate that contains colonized bacteria that feed on the compounds. The native plants then complete the filtration process absorbing the converted material that is now a plant nutrient.
